The Southern Highlands Community Hospice Inc. (SHCH) was established in July 2010 as a not-for-profit charity to establish a hospice with 10 in-patient beds and ancillary services for the Southern Highlands community.

The SHCH’s mission includes the aim “to provide a purpose-built Community Hospice that will deliver specialist palliative care to adults in our district, regardless of their ability to pay”.

There are no specialist palliative care in-patient units in the catchment area, which includes part of Mulwaree, Shoalhaven and Wollondilly Shires. Patients with life limiting disease requiring specialist services need to travel at least 60kms from Bowral.
