The Southern Highlands Community Hospice (SHCH) was established in July 2010 as a not-for-profit charity to provide in-patient hospice care and ancillary palliative care services for the Southern Highlands community.

There are no specialist palliative care in-patient units in the catchment area, which includes Wingecarribee Shire as well as parts of Mulwaree, Shoalhaven and Wollondilly Shires. Patients with a life-limiting disease requiring specialist in-patient palliative care need to travel at least 60kms from Bowral.
