SHN: “Palliative care gap addressed”

THE lack of a palliative care facility in the Southern Highlands has sparked the establishment of a steering committee, working on getting one for the area. Recently, NSW Health Minister Carmel Tebbutt said, because there was a palliative care until in Camden and some beds at Southern Highlands Private Hospital, there wasn’t the demand for one in the Highlands.

However, Dr David Browning from the Southern Highlands Hospice committee said, there is a need to recognise there is an increasing need for a type of medical care which is quite different to the rest of medicine.
