SHCH opened its first Hospice Shop in 2012 in High Street, Bowral. The shop sells pre-loved clothing and accessories for women and men, and was such a success, it was quickly joined by our popular Furniture and Homewares shop, and then the Retro Shop.
In 2014, we expanded our brand of ‘unique shopping experiences’ and opened a shop in Mittagong (2 Bowral Road), selling women’s clothing and accessories, small furniture items and bric-a-brac.
The fifth Hospice Shop and our second furniture shop opened in Mittagong in August 2015.
All shops are stocked with high-quality donations from our wonderful supporters in the Southern Highlands. They’re now a popular retail destination for Highland locals and visitors, who often comment on our superior selection of stock and friendly, knowledgeable service from our dedicated volunteers.
The Hospice Shops are SHCH’s key fundraising activity and have a vital role in helping fund the day-to-day running of SHCH and in providing a revenue base to support the Hospice once operational.
The Shops continue to do well and this achievement in what is a tough retail environment is due to the commitment of the local community to the Hospice Project through regular donations and purchases of our distinctive merchandise.
We couldn’t do this without you and appreciate your ongoing assistance in helping us accomplish our mission to build a state-of-the art Hospice, available to patients in our district, regardless of their ability to pay.
